Puppy 1-2-1 & Dog Training Classes

Puppies first, congratulations on your new family member!

Your new puppy will be like a sponge once at home. It will soak up all of the learning so fast it is easier to get started straight away to prevent any unwanted habits from occurring. Remember, they learn the unwanted behaviours just as well and as fast as they do the wanted behaviours. So getting in there early and having a plan to work with, with your goals in mind will always be the smoother journey with bringing a new puppy home.

Puppy Training

1-2-1 lessons from your home can start as soon as they come home to begin then we can stretch out the learning into the outside world.

For new puppy owners or first time owners I can offer a meeting to make a plan with you. This will help you work out how to manage the most concerning things of the first few days and nights which mainly consist of:

  • Getting through night training
  • Toilet Training
  • Crate training (if desired)
  • Walking to heel training
  • Recall training
  • Travelling well in the car

Anything that concerns you can be covered, this is just a list of the most common.

This can even be before the puppy comes home!

I use these Headcollars and Double Ended Leads.

Join our Dog Training Classes!

We hold regular Training Classes at our lovely field location in Kings Walden, where we run both a Beginners Class and an Intermediate Class.

Our Beginners Class start at any age and we invite all dogs from puppies to rehomes to rescues which is why we don’t use the term ‘puppy class’.

Our Intermediate Class is offered to those who would like training progression for their dog. With this in mind, you will be assigned to a class that best suits you and your dog.

We keep all the Classes small intentionally to ensure that each dog and handler enjoys the quality of our teaching that they deserve.

Training Class Details

We hold both our Beginners Class and our Intermediate Class on a Wednesday and a Saturday
  • Natalie is the Instructor on Wednesdays
  • Lexi is the Instructor on Saturdays
We work outside in all weathers to give a ‘real life’ feel to our training so suitable clothing and footwear is essential
Our Training Classes cover a variety of activities including:
  • Walking to heel
  • Recall
  • Leave it
  • Lead Training
  • Tricks
  • Play
  • Stay
  • Obedience
  • Searching
  • Agility
  • and lots more
During each Class you will be involved in small exercises which will allow you to practise with an Instructor present should you have any questions or need any additional help. This really adds to your knowledge of how to deal with your dog in more distracting environments. These sessions are fun obedience based sports where you work through different stations with your dog, all little aspects of training that help all round.

Dog Training for your Adolescent Dog

Dog Training for the Adolescent dog is a great help for the dreaded hormone rushes and teenage stages – when everything else but you seems more important.

This training is very useful for a dog that did training as a puppy but then fell into cheeky ways leading to bad habits – or just found the way to use those puppy eyes to get away with everything!

When you know what you want from your dog but you are unsure how to achieve it, that’s where I can help. Being the translation tool between the handlers and their four legged friends we achieve a bond between you that will be strong enough to enable you to enjoy your dog. So that your dog becomes a well mannered dog that can accompany you on holiday, to the pub, to days out, to friends houses and of course at home, being the best dog they can be.

Rescue or Rehomed Dogs

Whether you have just brought home a rescue dog, rehomed a dog, or you have decided that you would like to start working on your dog’s behaviour there are lots of things I can do to help.

The best news is that it is not too late and, yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks!

As you’ll find in the information about me, this is how I started out with my first dog, my girl Rox. Later on in life training is different to puppy training, but, as I say to my customers all the time everyone’s training journey is different, whether that be in classes or in 1-2-1 lessons, your plan, your goals and your journey are all specific to you!

Key areas for older dog training

  • Recall
  • Walking to heel
  • Jumping up
  • Excited greetings
  • Door rushing
  • Separation anxiety

Or brain games and fun activities for dogs that have issues with mobility following surgeries, injuries or have health issues, there is something in my toolbag to fit both yours and your dogs needs.

I will warn you though, training your dog is addictive, once you have achieved the basics and you start realising what they are capable of, you may notice other dogs behaviours that you like! Your goals may change and your journey can turn into one of a hobby or fun for both handler and dog rather than an essential. I have customers that swear they will never leave because they love it so much!

These Headcollars and Double Ended Leads are great.

Tug Toys in pet training are also highly recommended for Puppy and Dog Training.

Drop in Sessions

These sessions are only available to current and previous customers.

So, once your dog training journey has begun you are very welcome to drop in on some of our classes. If you are a previous customer this is a huge benefit and a great reminder of everything you and your dog have learned.

Likewise, if you and your dog have recently joined classes and you feel that your dog would benefit from additional training, these Drop in Sessions will work really nicely for you.

Enjoy Training your Dog

The aim of the game is to make everything valuable, what we like, we reward and what we don’t we change into something that we do like then equally we make it valuable.

My favourite saying in training is ‘if you like it, reward it, even if you didn’t ask for it’.

Making training fun and adapting to each person/dogs needs by taking everything into account, creates a personalised plan for you.
